ŠKODA embark on new electric era
Presenting the SUPERB iV and CITIGOe iV – The start of e-mobility
The start of ŠKODA’s electrification has begun with the SUPERB iV and the CITIGOe iV – which were unveiled during the quarter finals of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship earlier today.
ŠKODA Auto will invest two billion euros in the development of electric vehicles and new mobility services over the next five years – The largest investment programme to date.
Investing in alternative drive systems and new mobility services such as car sharing platforms. By the end of 2022, ŠKODA will have introduced more than 10 electrified models, fully establishing the ŠKODA iV family.
In a double world premiere ŠKODA presented both the CITIGOe iV the first fully electric vehicle to the range and the SUPERB iV a plug-in hybrid.
The ‘i’ in iV stands for “innovative” and “intelligent”, “iconic” and “inspiring”. Every ŠKODA iV is also individual with numerous trim level and customisation options.
The first all-electric vehicle which will be arriving in our Yorkshire & Grimsby ŠKODA showrooms soon is the zero-emission city car we have been waiting for – perfect for urban areas.
Its electric motor delivers 61kw with a range of up to 265km. The battery can be charged to 80% in one hour using a combined charging system charging cable.
Delivering a maximum power output of 160kw (218PS) the SUPERB iV is the first ŠKODA model to feature plug-in hybrid drive. The new SUPERB iV is powered by a 1.4TSI petrol engine delivering 115kw (156PS) and an 85kw electric motor.
Battery and petrol power combined give the car a range of 528 miles.
With emission levels less than 40 g/km. The 13kwh battery allows an all-electric, zero emission range of up to 34 miles. The battery can be charged using a standard household plug socket, a charging wall box and while driving using the petrol engine and brake energy recovery.
2020 will see a production version of the VISION iV SUV coupe concept – proving that ŠKODA Auto is taking a stance in support of environmentally friendly mobility, an important part of ŠKODA’s ‘GreenFuture’ sustainability strategy.
