World premieres at the Geneva International Motor Show

2019 Geneva International Motor Show news:

The eagerly awaited Geneva Motor show played host to a number of world premieres for our partnered brands ŠKODA, SEAT & Honda.

Considered to be the most important motor show in the automotive calendar – this year marks the 89th year of the prestigious event.

Our very own tartan representative Dougal Keith, was lucky enough to attend the show to witness the grand unveiling of the future of the automotive industry and the vehicles which will be arriving across our D. M. Keith showrooms in the very near future.

Presenting the world premieres of:

  • CUPRA Formentor
  • SEAT el-born
  • ŠKODA Kamiq
  • ŠKODA Coupe Crossover - VISION iV
  • ŠKODA Scala
  • Honda E Prototype

CUPRA Formentor

CUPRA Formentor concept car made its world debut at the show; which brings together the benefits of a performance car with the qualities of an SUV.  Powering the CUPRA Formentor is the high-performance plug-in hybrid engine, designed to meet today’s requirements for performance and efficiency – and begin the electrification of the brand.

A concept car full of character the CUPRA Formentor is closer to the ground to highlight its sportiness, with a visual emphasis placed towards the rear of the vehicle while at the same time accentuating the length of the bonnet, underscoring its dynamic proportions.

The CUPRA Formentor’s expressive exterior design is matched by its high-quality interior.  The vehicles cabin provides a sense of modernity and sportiness, with a unique take on the feel of the CUPRA brand.

SEAT El-born:

SEAT el-born is the first 100% electric car based on the new MEB platform.  Designed and developed in Barcelona; the el-born is designed to drive.  Its dynamic proportions are enabled by its electric powertrain, pushing the wheels to the four corners of the vehicle and allowing a more vibrant and energetic stance compared to traditionally powered cars.

The el-born is a true game changer in the market with performance that matches the customers desire and the necessity of real-world driving, unlike any vehicle has before now.

With an output of up to 150kw (204PS) the vehicle can reach 100km/h in as little as 7.5 seconds – enough to meet the demands of any driving scenario.

Boasting a real-world range of up to 420km and a supercharging capability – the battery can be returned from 0 to 80% in as little as 47 minutes.

The future of the SEAT brand will be launching in late 2020 – we will be updating our website with all of the latest information.

ŠKODA KAMIQ:

KAMIQ combines the advantages of a sport utility vehicle – such as higher ground clearance and a comfortable seating position – with the agility of a compact car.

The new SUV is the brand’s first model to feature split LED headlights with daytime running lights.

The KAMIQ offers more than twenty Simply Clever features.  It’s the first car in its segment to offer the option of clever door-edge protection that deploys automatically when the doors are opened.

The tailgate can be opened and closed at the push of a button; thanks to its integrated tip-to-close function, it can also be closed by lightly pull on the open tailgate.

ŠKODA COUPE CROSSOVER – VISION iV:

The all-new all-electric SUV concept has been unveiled to the world.  The all-wheel-drive concept boards a range of over 310 miles thanks to its two electric motors – one powering the front axel and one the back.

An aerodynamic lip spoiler and crystalline LED tail lights form a C-shape on the rear of the car.  Imposing diffuser with light strip emphasises the sporty appearance of the vehicle – stretching across the entire width.

Not forgetting the ŠKODA branding on the rear which is backlit red – which was very well received with show-goers and Dougal alike.

The VISION iV is the brands fully electric four-door crossover-coupe, the brands first car built on a modular platform for electric vehicles (MEB).  It can reach 62mph from a standing start in just 5.9 seconds; the jump from 50mph to 75mph takes less than four seconds.

Practical and performance all in one.

ŠKODA SCALA:

The latest addition to the ŠKODA range will be arriving in our showrooms later this year.  The SCALA will redefine the compact car range and will launch with a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, with power outputs ranging from 115ps to 150ps.

SCALA which is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform will allow the use of innovative assistance systems from higher-tier segments and provide even more safety and comfort in the compact car segment.

The first production vehicle to feature the new ŠKODA branding in block lettering across the tailgate instead of the traditional roundel combined emotive design with a high level of functionality and state of the art connectivity.

  • LED headlights and tail lights as standard
  • Optional 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Optional virtual cockpit

HONDA E Prototype:

100% emotion, 0% emissions.

The next generation electric car is coming – the new Honda e prototype was revealed to the world with the announcement of:

“HONDA’s electric vision – 100% of European sales to be electrified by 2025”

The Honda e Prototype is inspired by the original Honda Civic.  It has a modern-retro look, with minimal detailing and a sporty stance.  Symmetrical headlights with LED technology sit within a piano-black surround, an effect that is repeated at the rear of the car.

With painstaking attention to detail – everything that can be hidden awayhas been.

Charging points are out of sight, driver assistance systems are almost invisible to the eye.

The roof appears to float delicately over the clean glass area.  The effect is a new aesthetic, a desirable, perfectly proportioned compact electric car that slips silently through the air.

With a range of over 200km per charge, the Honda e prototype is more than capable of handling everyday driving and an outstanding response to the road.

A new kind of electrical freedom…. The battery can be charged using the AC charger which means that the car can be charged at home using a conventional plug or a dedicated charging unit.  Alternatively, park the car at the shops, plug it in and leave it to fill the battery while you browse.  For those longer journeys the flexibility of nationwide charging points allow the vehicle to take on a fast charge, meaning the battery can be boosted to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.

Available to reserve in Summer 2019 this vision will be a great asset to our Grimsby Honda showroom.
